Is your HVAC constantly running?
If this describes your situation, it may be time to consider adding more insulation to your home, which can reduce the BTUs.
One type of blown insulation is called cellulose insulation. Sudbury and area residents often benefit from this type of insulation in their attics because it’s denser than other types of loose-fill insulation, such as fiberglass.
Polar Bear Insulation strategically prepares each insulation system. We install it to ensure it provides efficient thermal protection for your home.
We offer Cellulose insulation as a green, non-toxic thermal solution for those seeking to improve their energy savings and reduce their carbon footprint.
Cellulose Is a Green Product!
It has the highest recycled content of any insulation available, comprising approximately 80% recycled newspapers and paper products. While newspapers are flammable, cellulose insulation is treated with boric acid, ammonium sulfate, or sodium borate, which resist fire, insects, rodents, and mold. Cellulose comes in two primary forms: loose-fill and dense pack.
- Loose-fill Cellulose: This form is often blown into attics or open wall cavities. It is a light, fluffy material that quickly fills hard-to-reach spaces and gaps.
- Dense-pack Cellulose: This type is packed more tightly into walls, often used in retrofit installations, to ensure no air pockets and maximize its insulating properties.
Both types of cellulose are highly effective, but dense-pack cellulose is typically preferred for walls and areas that require higher insulation performance.
When to Use Cellulose
Cellulose insulation can be installed in new or existing homes. Suppose you’re looking to retrofit your home with better insulation. In that case, cellulose is an excellent option for exterior walls because it eliminates the need to tear down your existing walls for installation, making it a simple drill-and-fill process. It’s also ideal for attic applications, allowing quick and consistent deep coverage throughout the space. Cellulose insulation can be effectively dry-blown into existing structures, but is also effective when damp-sprayed into open wall cavities in new construction.
